(“DMP,” President & CEO: Tatsuo Yamamoto), headquartered in Musashino-shi, Tokyo, have agreed to enter into a joint marketing contract targeting the digital consumer market, which covers digital appliances, automotive electronics, and handheld gaming devices.
By jointly engaging in the digital consumer domain for Acrodea’s user interface platform VIVID UI and for DMP’s graphics IP core PICA, the two companies can powerfully support system-level product development with both hardware and software offerings. The result promises to deliver enhanced, rich user interfaces that anybody will find easy to navigate.
Moreover, the two companies intend to link the authoring tools developed by DMP for producing model data with remarkable 3D expressions on PICA, and VIVID UI workshop developed by Acrodea for integrating multimedia and orchestrating production of the UI overall. The resulting framework will support production of enriched UI that incorporate 3D graphics. Lastly, the two companies intend to pursue joint marketing of game development platform X-FORGE® and the solutions for amusement machines that belong to Acrodea.
Going forward, Acrodea and DMP will look to leverage their engineering power and business networks for the digital consumer market, and broadly promote penetration of each other’s products.
VIVID UI is a user interface platform developed by Acrodea principally for mobile phones, and represents innovative middleware that can integrate various types of multimedia content, such as still pictures, 3D graphics, animation effects, and video. VIVID UI enables mobile phones that can be readily customized with graphically enhanced menus and standby screens according to user preferences. The VIVID UI authoring tool incorporates features for creating menu transitions through a visual context, as well as for menu content emulation. By using this tool, handset manufacturers and content providers can easily create compatible content with a wealth of expression.
PICA has achieved innovative, flexible, and scalable hardware architecture to meet broad demand for SoC (System on Chip) applications in the rapidly growing “21st-century Digital Consumer Market,” such as amusement machines, automotive infotainment systems, mobile phones, game consoles, and digital appliances.
