November 19, 2008 (Tokyo, Japan)—New models being released in November 2008 onwards by NTT DoCoMo, Inc. (CEO and President: Ryuji Yamada), headquartered in Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo have been implemented with VIVID UI and VIVID Movie developed by Acrodea, Inc. (CEO and President: Junya Tsutsumi), headquartered in Meguro-ku, Tokyo.
Continuing from the 905i and 906i series, the new models being released in November 2008 onward—17 models (all, excluding a portion) have implemented Acrodea’s VIVID UI and VIVID Movie under the master license agreement announced in August 2007. VIVID UI and VIVID Movie by Acrodea are compatible with the Kisekae Tool® service provided by NTT DoCoMo. In addition, VIVID UI is compatible with Direct Menu, as well as the new i-Concier® and i-Widget® services by NTT DoCoMo.
Kisekae Tool® can take UI content created in Kisekae Tool Studio, such as idle screens and menu screens, and can designate and set such idle screens and menu screens in a bulk operation on any i-Mode® handset compatible with Kisekae Tool functionality. Moreover, Kisekae Tool can set content in areas previously unexposed for customization, with UI menu components, such as battery level indicators, signal strength indicators, etc., created in Kisekae Tool UI Creator. In short, simple operations can enable customization of handset UIs with rich expressions. Direct Menu is arranged for ease of access to frequently used functions and services. Functions and services set in Direct Menu remain consistent in operation as previous models, so that changing to a new handset model retains the assurance and convenience of knowing that operations remain the same.
i-Concier® consists of an individualized subscriber support service through the mobile phone that serves like a butler or concierge. Based on numerous pieces of user data (current geography, day timer, Toruka®, telephone directory), the service functions can display information that matches the lifestyle geography or personal interests of a subscriber at the appropriate timing, automatically update schedules or Toruka on the mobile phone, and automatically update phone directory information. The updated display of as-needed information and schedule screens is accomplished with VIVID UI technology.
i-Widget® provides a function for displaying a maximum eight items (Widget apps) consisting of frequently selected operations, such as a lookup window, stock information, etc. Access to the i-Widget screen is a single press away with the i-Widget button, enabled with updating to the latest information. Display of multiple Widget apps on the i-Widget screen is accomplished with Acrodea’s VIVID UI technology.
Plans call for the successive release of mobile handsets implemented with VIVID UI and VIVID Movie in November and beyond.
