October 28, 2008 (Tokyo, Japan)—The 2008 autumn-winter models of the au brand mobile telephones of KDDI, Inc. (President and Chairman: Tadashi Onodera), headquartered in Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, have been implemented with VIVID UI and VIVID Movie developed by Acrodea, Inc. (CEO and President: Junya Tsutsumi), headquartered in Meguro-ku, Tokyo.
The KDDI au autumn-winter models, consisting of the Wooo Keitai W63H (made by Hitachi), EXILIM Keitai W63CA (made by Casio), AQUOS Keitai W64SH (made by Sharp), and W65T (made by Toshiba), were implemented accordingly.
Continuing from the 2008 summer models, the four 2008 autumn-winter models mark releases under the master license agreement announced in August 2007, whereby Acrodea’s VIVID UI and VIVID Movie were sublicensed from KDDI to the handset manufacturers. By virtue of VIVID UI and VIVID Movie being embedded in the integrated platform KCP+ promoted by KDDI, manufacturers can efficiently create more attractive user interfaces with 3D graphics and Flash content.
VIVID UI for KDDI is deployed to the standby screen, and the preset content playback for “au one gadget” is achieved through VIVID UI. As a result, a variety of UI expressions is possible by changing the content displayed on the standby screen, or by changing au one gadget content, such as the calendar or the record of incoming or outgoing calls.
In addition, the Nakachen button, installed on the EZ Keitai Arrange for the Nakachen service provided by KDDI, permits direct access to information sites and content from the main menu according to the lifestyle type selected. As a facet of the Furuchen service provided by KDDI for the external and internal makeover of mobile handsets, the Nakachen service that can be used to modify the user interface of a handset is created with the VIVID UI Workshop and enabled with VIVID UI.
