(CEO and President: Junya Tsutsumi), headquartered in Meguro-ku, Tokyo, and Megachips Corporation (CEO and President: Shigeki Matsuoka), headquartered in Yodogawa-ku, Osaka, announced today the joint development of VIVID Communicator Engine, a new, alternative communication technology to mobile email.
Acrodea and Megachips have jointly developed VIVID Communicator, conceptualized as a visual communication tool surpassing email, with an aim to achieve a completely new, entertaining experience in communicating. The newly developed, patent-pending, media mixing technology as executable middleware does not rely on existing terminal performance or functions. The system is equipped for the user to create, exchange, and view or listen to music, audio, text, images, photos, etc., as desired, according to the occasion. The companies plan to broadly support ease of use according to the occasion through customization of UI extensions, such as scenario templates and applications, consulting on service models, and building server sites.
By following UI operations, using a template, and choosing background music, a mobile device user with VIVID Communicator can, for example, photograph and register multiple snap shots from a Christmas party, input text and special characters (or sound effects and the like), and promptly transmit via email or publish on a website the material created.
An automatic compilation of photos stored on the mobile phone to generate a photo journal is also possible. A recipient can view the mixed data like a flowing scene or video, and even return the media with comments inserted. A collection of memories or events can be shared among friends or club members as an album, and saved as a record for real-time or time-shifted visual communication. The usage format suggests diverse applicability as a seamless communicator when merged with instant messaging, SNS, blogging, video uploads, and other community services that are not limited to mobile phone access.
Acrodea and Megachips intend to cooperate and provide this new communication tool globally for broad adoption, and to develop partner alliances with companies expressing keen interest in service models.
