Acrodea, Nickom in joint development over
GUI integration environment solutions
—GUI development and evaluation tools for embedded devices—

September 21, 2007 (Tokyo, Japan)—Acrodea, Inc. (CEO and President: Junya Tsutsumi), headquartered in Meguro-ku, Tokyo, and Nickom, Ltd. (CEO and President: Hideto Kojima), headquartered in Minato-ku, Tokyo announced today an alliance in delivering solutions for integrated development environments and test environments for designing GUIs in embedded devices.

The combination of Acrodea's VIVID UI™ and GUI integration simulator Maestro™ that Nickom distributes in Japan can facilitate GUI design and operating menu development at hardware manufacturers, and contribute to a reduction in development cycles and development costs. The simulation function optimized according to each embedded device allows performance evaluation comparable to the actual hardware device.

Acrodea and Nickom look forward to leveraging the expertise and business networks associated with embedded devices held at both companies, marketing jointly GUI design support to hardware manufacturers and development support for versatile user interfaces, and cooperating in the development of optimum simulation environments for embedded devices.

The Acrodea booth at CEATEC 2007 to be held at Makuhari Messe starting Oct. 2 will host a demonstration of VIVID UI Workshop and Maestro.

Integrated Simulation Development and Test Environment

About VIVID UI

VIVID UI is a user interface platform developed by Acrodea for mobile phones, and represents innovative middleware that can integrate various types of multimedia content, such as still pictures, 3D graphics, animation, and video. VIVID UI enables mobile phones that can be readily customized with graphically enhanced menus and standby screens.
The VIVID UI authoring tool incorporates features for creating menu transitions through a visual context, as well as for menu content emulation. By using this tool, handset manufacturers and content providers can easily create compatible content with a wealth of expression.

About Maestro

Jointly developed by industry and the VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland, Maestro is an innovative solution that integrates a simulation, modeling, and development environment. By introducing a virtual product model, advanced simulation in lieu of the actual, physical product is possible across a wide scope of operations, from the design and conceptualizing phase, for specifications development, and through servicing after product release. Moreover, an open, extensible tool-chain architecture enables linkages to other tools and the generation of source code compatible with a variety of platforms. Product development employing Maestro raises expectations towards the following benefits: reduced development time through parallel tracking of development processes, cost reductions brought about from recycling of resources through modeling and componentization and from effective use of simulation, and improved product usability as a result of simulator engagement.
