(CEO and President: Junya Tsutsumi), headquartered in Shibuya-ku, Tokyo, announced the execution of a master license agreement for its VIVID UI™ and VIVID Movie™ installed in mobile phones for KDDI, Inc., headquartered in Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo (President and Chairman: Tadashi Onodera). Based on the new master agreement, KDDI will be able to sublicense VIVID UI and VIVID Movie to terminal manufacturers, and extend the technologies to all handset models. Plans call for successive implementation of VIVID UI and VIVID Movie in KDDI model releases in the future.
Acrodea and KDDI will jointly promote the development of a UI foundation for the KDDI Common Platform (KCP), a common platform for applications on au mobile phones, and will strengthen their ties as a commitment to KDDI's goal of enlarging its customer base.

VIVID UI is a user interface platform developed by Acrodea for mobile phones, and represents innovative middleware that can integrate various types of multimedia content, such as still pictures, 3D graphics, animation, and video. VIVID UI enables the user interfaces of mobile phones to be readily customized with graphically enhanced menus and standby screens. The VIVID UI authoring tool incorporates features for creating menu transitions through a visual context, as well as for menu content emulation. VIVID Movie achieves sophisticated video processing that can play rich movie content in memory-constrained and CPU performance-limited environments, such as mobile telephones and compact handheld devices. The technology is provided as middleware for mobile devices, and, in conjunction with VIVID UI, can deliver a highly expressive user interface with the adoption of movie content. The high video compression rate means an optimum solution can be achieved for downloaded content also.
