(CEO and President: Junya Tsutsumi), and Silicon Studio Corporation (CEO and President: Teruyasu Sekimoto), both headquartered in Shibuya-ku, Tokyo, jointly announced today the development of "VIVID Movie", video compression/decompression software for mobile devices.
Adopting new architectural concept on the basis of Silicon Studio's XCV (eXtreme Codec for Video) video compression and decompression technology, VIVID Movie achieves sophisticated, high-speed video processing that can play rich movie contents in memory-constrained and CPU performance-limited environments, such as mobile telephones and compact handheld devices. The technology is provided as middleware for mobile devices, and, in conjunction with VIVID UI, can deliver a highly expressive user interface with the adoption of movie content. The high video compression rate also provides an optimum solution which can delivery services without a load burden on content downloading.
Acrodea and Silicon Studio look forward to mutual cooperation in embedding VIVID Movie in VIVID UI, jointly developing video solutions and at the same time, distributing VIVID Movie to other applications.
The design is specialized for power-saving, embedded CPUs, such as ARM. Reduction of CPU load and memory consumption still provides DVD-quality video functionality.
This platform-independent middleware has a high degree of freedom at system embedding.
